Lamont

PCHS NEWS: Meet LAMONT - our newest canine tripod!
September 29th, 2010

Meet Lamont! He has a brachial plexus injury, which basically means he has nerve damage which makes one of his legs unusable. Lamont is having his leg amputated this week, so he will soon be joining the tripod club! It's going to be a long, difficult surgery and recovery, and Lamont (and PCHS) could use all the help you can give.

Lamont is a very sweet, sweet dog who loves people and gets along great with everybody! He has been a marvelous patient and would really appreciate your contributions and for you to spread the word to help him find a great home after his recovery.

We would really appreciate any monetary donations you can give. Cash/checks can be mailed or dropped off at our office, but to make an online donation now using PayPal, just CLICK HERE.

Thank you so much for your generosity in advance! We will keep you posted on Lamont's journey!

UPDATE! 10/1/2010 - LAMONT IS A TRIPOD! :)

Here is a very sleepy (but happy) Lamont a couple of hours after his surgery. When he sees people he wags his tail :)

The vet said this morning that as she was giving him his medications before the operation, she felt like Lamont knew what she was going to do and was telling her thank you. He has a long road and lots of medications ahead of him, so we would really appreciate any help you could give!

UPDATE! 10/18/2010)

Lamont is doing fantastic!

He barely seems to notice the missing limb and is just as active as a 4-legged dog. This, of course, horrifies his foster parents, who are concerned that he may injure himself or bust his stitches. Lamont is currently allowed off-leash in the fenced in yard, but only for short periods and only when the resident dogs are inside, since Lamont gets so excited.

Here is Lamont with his foster sister, right before he 3-legged lateral jumped over her!

Lamont is a huge fan of toys, and he likes to get them all out of the basket before he chooses one to play with.
He settles very nicely with a chew toy and does not seem to mind sharing.

Lamont's foster parents report that he is a funny boy and is a joy to have around. If you are interested in adopting Lamont, please fill out our online adoption application.

Lamont would like to thank everyone who donated for him to have this much needed surgery and everyone who sent warm wishes for his speedy recovery. As always, PCHS staff and volunteers thank you for your continued support!
